If your auto bearing are bad and you need to buy new ones, you need some basic common sense and advice.
Many experienced truck drivers may have faced this scene: their vehicles in routine maintenance, and masters found a “think about it are afraid of” situation – the vehicle’s wheel bearing wear seriously.
If not discovered in time, the wheels may even be detached while driving, causing unforeseen accidents.
Among the many components of a truck, the roaring engine often becomes the center of discussion, like a shining “star”.
But as mentioned before, those behind the scenes constantly running wheel bearing unit should not be ignored, as one of the most central parts of the truck contact road surface, it will even affect the safety of the entire vehicle.
Huge trucks also follow the same “law of the barrel”, once the car bearing unit problems, like a barrel on the body of the short plate, can not guarantee that more water, then no matter how powerful the engine, but also can not guarantee the safety of the truck, so the role of the wheel hub bearing unit should not be underestimated.

1. An all-encompassing guide to selecting auto bearing.
Do you buy bearings based only on the model number?
Although the car bearings are bad for whatever model, as long as the purchase of the same model of car bearings is on the line, only the same model is not enough.
When buying bearings, in addition to looking at the model number, you also need to consider the material, precision, working environment, and other factors. For example, if the weight of trucks and cars and the weight of the goods are different, the purchase of automotive bearings will not be the same consideration—only a comprehensive consideration of various factors, to select the most appropriate bearing.
In the purchase of bearings, many consumers tend to focus only on the model, as long as the model match can meet the demand. However, in fact, the selection of bearings is much more than that. We also have to consider the working environment, as well as the durable and long-lasting aspects that come with it. Below, we will provide you with detailed information on how to buy the right bearings from multiple perspectives.
The importance of bearing type
First of all, we can’t deny the importance of model number in bearing selection. The model usually represents the size, structure, type, and other basic information of the bearing, which is the key to ensuring that the bearing matches the equipment. Check what model number your broken auto bearing is, and buy the same number of bearings on it.
Selection of bearing material
In addition to the model number, the material of the bearing is also an important factor to pay attention to when purchasing. Different material bearings have different performance characteristics, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high-temperature resistance. Therefore, when selecting bearings, you need to choose the material with corresponding performance according to the working environment of the equipment, load conditions, and other factors. If you are a truck, you need to consider the pressure resistance of the auto bearing wear resistance for long-time work, and high-temperature resistance.
Consideration of bearing precision
The precision of bearings directly affects the operating effect and life of the equipment. High-precision bearings can reduce the vibration and noise of the equipment and improve the operating efficiency of the equipment. Our auto bearing has high precision and low vibration and noise.
Influence of working environment
The working environment is also one of the factors to be considered when purchasing bearings. Different working environments have different performance requirements for bearings, such as humidity, corrosion, high temperature, and other environments need to choose bearings with special properties. Therefore, in the selection of auto bearing, take into account whether their car is a private car or a work car.
2. Telling the difference between good and bad auto bearing you’ve purchased?
When the auto bearing you purchased is delivered, unpack it and check if the auto bearing is what you want. It is crucial to recognize the quality of auto bearing. We teach you some practical tips to help you easily distinguish the quality of auto bearing:
- First, observe the outer package and logo, and check the outer package of the bearing, the package of the Zhengchang brand is usually created by professional designers with clear and error-free handwriting. Famous bearing brands have unique designs to protect their intellectual property, so pay attention to the details of the package.
- Then check the surface cleanliness of the auto Bearing, pay attention to the surface of the bearing, an excellent bearing will not have thick oil stains. They usually present a smooth appearance with no traces of oil. Remember, counterfeit products may have traces of rust preventive oil, which must be carefully recognized.
- Check the chamfering process Check the chamfering of the bearings, the chamfering of the genuine products should be smooth and the craftsmanship is fine. Counterfeit products, due to process limitations, may have uneven chamfers, high and low, and rough.
- Verify the brand logo on the bearings with clear brand characters and labels. Genuine products adopt fine steel printing technology with deep fonts, while counterfeit products have fuzzy fonts that are easy to wear out or erase.
- Listening to the sound to recognize the counterfeits rotate the bearings by hand, the counterfeits may produce noise due to negligence in the production process. Counterfeit products may produce noise due to oversights in the production process. High-quality brands such as Chintz follow strict production standards to ensure silent operation.
Through these methods, you will be able to more accurately identify the good and bad auto bearing.
Solutions to common problems of auto bearing.
Let’s find out how to determine the failure of auto bearings.
Abnormal noise is one of the common manifestations of bearing failure. When the vehicle is traveling, if you hear a continuous buzzing, crunching or rubbing sound, especially when the sound is more obvious when the speed changes or turns, it may mean that there is a problem with the bearings.
The stability of the vehicle’s ride can also reflect the condition of the bearings. If you feel that the vehicle shakes, runs out of alignment, or the suspension system jumps abnormally while driving, it may be caused by bearing damage.
This can also be detected through a feel check. After stopping the vehicle, turn the wheels by hand. If you feel that the rotation is not smooth, there are cases of stuttering or excessive resistance, the bearings may have failed.
We should check it out, either by going to a service start or by using a jack ourselves to lift the vehicle, which must be ensured to be stably supported. Then remove the tires and brake components to expose the bearings.
If you find wear, cracks, or rust on the bearing surface, it needs to be cleaned and repaired. Sandpaper can be used to gently sand the worn areas and remove rust.
For minor damage, you can add the right amount of lubricant to improve the working condition of the bearings. However, care should be taken to select the appropriate type of lubricant.
If the car bearings are already broken, you need to buy new ones again, and we recommend replacing the auto bearing that have been used for a long time.
The solution to the problem of auto bearing not rotating.
When you are driving and you notice that the auto bearing is slowly turning. Common causes include poor lubrication, severe wear and tear of the bearings, foreign objects carried inside the bearings, and the bearings are not installed correctly enough.
For poor lubrication, you need to check the quality and quantity of the lubricant. If the lubricant is insufficient or of poor quality, it should be replaced in time and the right amount of high-quality lubricant should be added.
If the problem is excessive wear of the AUTO Bearing, the bearing needs to be scrutinized. Badly worn bearings must be replaced. Purchase bearings with the same model number, and how to select them, are described in the above article.
If the bearings do not rotate due to the entry of foreign objects, they need to be cleaned up and the bearings need to be checked for damage.
Improper installation is also a common cause. When installing the bearings, make sure that the installation position is correct, the installation strength is moderate, and avoid being too tight or too loose.
Auto bearing are oxidized and corroded
When auto bearing are contaminated by water, old oil, hydraulic fluid, or aggressive additives, they are highly susceptible to oxidation by the acids in the contaminants and oxidative corrosion occurs, resulting in a large number of rust or pits.
As shown in the figure 1, in order to effectively avoid this situation, bearings should be cleaned and old lubricants removed before installation, and avoid water contact with the bearings.
Auto bearing microscopic corrosion
When the bearing collar and rolling body between the microscopic displacement, will lead to bearing microscopic corrosion, bearing the outer surface of the oxidized layer, as shown in Figure 2, to effectively avoid the occurrence of this situation.
Before installing the bearing, need to check the bearing accuracy, bearing collar and shaft should generally be interference fit, such as precision is not enough, not be able to interference, that is, micro-movement will occur, interference fit, the installation will be more difficult, should be used to anti-micro-movement paste and induction heater will be mounted on the shaft bearing.
Autom bearing surface spalling
When bearings are inadequately lubricated or when the oil film breaks down, small, very fine, and hard particles wear the bearings and cause spalling on the bearing surfaces.
As shown in Figure 3, to prevent this, the bearing should be selected with the right lubricant (quantity and viscosity) and an automatic lubrication system to avoid solid particles and liquid intrusion during and after bearing installation, and the bearing temperature level should be checked.
Auto bearing galvanic corrosion
When a bearing is overcharged, it causes galvanic corrosion, which produces pits or grooves, as shown in the figure above.
Bearing galvanic corrosion is a frequently mentioned problem, but most of the information on bearing galvanic corrosion is only from the point of view of why bearing galvanic corrosion occurs, the morphological characteristics of bearing galvanic corrosion, and how to deal with bearing galvanic corrosion.
General bearings are steel bearings, bearing inner ring, outer ring, and rolling body are metal conductors, that constitute the conditions of the current path. Therefore when there is a potential difference between these parts of the bearing, the conditions for overcurrent are in place and current will flow through the bearing.
If the inside of the bearing are all stable conductors, then such an overcurrent seems to have little effect on the bearing. The problem is that there are some other factors inside the bearing.
First, there is the issue of the lubricating medium of the bearing. Generally, the conductivity of a bearing’s lubricating medium is not comparable to that of a metallic material and is therefore a relative insulator. The lubricant film between the bearing raceway and the rolling element is equivalent to a capacitive structure. When the potential difference between the capacitive plates (raceway and rolling element) reaches a certain level, a breakdown of the lubricant film will occur. At this point, it causes the bearing overcurrent.
If the breakdown is an instantaneous process, it constitutes an instantaneous current. If it occurs continuously, it constitutes a continuous current.
It is not difficult to find, when the bearing inner ring outer ring there is a certain potential difference, will occur between the outer ring raceway and rolling body overcurrent and the inner ring raceway and rolling body overcurrent situation. A little current formation, in the end cover of the motor, presents an unevenly distributed surface current, this surface current is concentrated in the rolling body and the raceway contacts several contact points.
Considering the dynamic process, the rolling element and raceway are in relative motion, and when the bearing is loaded and running, the thickness of the lubricant film inside the bearing is a dynamic process, which results in fluctuation of the capacitance on the circuit. At the same time, changes in the number of contact points between the rolling element and raceway also affect the current density of the overcurrent.
Generally, this breakdown temperature will be higher (some data show that the breakdown temperature can be as high as 4000 ℃). Such temperatures will affect the metal material of the bearing. The metal will melt at such high temperatures, resulting in the formation of tiny galvanic pits in the originally machined rolling element and raceway surfaces.
Auto bearing breakage
When automotive bearings are subjected to shock, overload, bending force, fatigue or excessive thermal stress, the bearings will fracture suddenly, especially when the load is overweight, it is most likely to happen.
To avoid the occurrence of such damage . We should replace the noisy bearings in advance during use.
